New Life Camp Athletics programs are designed to train players to pursue excellence in both sports competition and their relationship with Christ. Players are challenged in areas of discipline and teamwork while learning life lessons that illustrate the greater truths from God’s Word.

Storm Fall 2020 Parent Orientation

The New Life Storm is the homeschool athletics program of New Life Camp, competing against other home school teams as well as public and private schools in the area. The goal of each team is to honor Christ through athletic excellence. All participants are required to be registered with the North Carolina Department of Non-Public Education (DNPE) in order to participate.

Players must be, as of August 1st of current school year:

  • Middle School – 13 or younger
  • JV – 16 or younger
  • Varsity – 18 or younger

Next Level Basketball

The Next Level Basketball League (Spring Only) is designed for the beginner as well as the player who wants to take their game to the next level. At the same time, they are also challenged to take their relationship with Christ to the next level.  This program thrives off of individuals and families volunteering their time as coaches, referees, scorekeepers, clock-keepers, concessions workers, and more.  There’s an opportunity for everyone participating to help make the program great!

Boys and girls play in separate divisions.

  • 8U (ages 8 and under – boys only)
  • 10U (ages 10 and under – both genders)
  • 13U (ages 13 and under – both genders)
  • 18U (ages 18 and under – both genders)
  • All practices take place at New Life Camp.
  • Each team will have 1 practice per week.
  • Elementary & Middle School practices last 1 hour.
  • High School practices last 1.5 hours.
  • Each team will practice the same day and time throughout the season.

Skills Training

Our Skills Trainings are group training opportunities for both beginners and advanced players.

Fall Basketball Development Academy

Weekly development academy grouped into sessions for beginner Elementary athletes, advanced Middle School athletes, and advanced High School athletes.

Beginners Training: ages 6-10

  • Dates: September 14-October 12, 2020 – (Sessions are held once a week for 5 weeks)
  • Day & Time: Mondays from 6:00pm-7:15pm
  • Cost: $95 per participant

Athletes will be taught basketball fundamentals, focusing on the individual basic skills of ball-handling, shooting, passing, footwork, and defense.  Instruction will focus on teaching the fundamentals while teaching kids to have fun while competing.  During each session, the coaches will lead biblical character lessons that connect both to basketball and life.

Advanced Middle Schoo Training: ages 11-14

  • Dates: September 14-October 12, 2020 – (Sessions are held once a week for 5 weeks)
  • Day & Time: Mondays from 7:15pm – 8:30pm
  • Cost: $95 per participant

Summer Basketball Development Academy

Summer Basketball Skills Training is focused on individual skill development and challenge during the off season. The programs are led by Kyle Mendenhall, who has several years of experience in high school and college basketball coaching and camps.

Athletes will go through advanced basketball skills, focusing on passing, defense, ball-handling and shooting.  Instruction will focus on teaching the fundamentals while teaching kids to have fun while competing.  Athletes will also be placed on different teams each week and taught how to implement skills they learn into live 3 on 3 game like situations.  In the 3 on 3 sessions, athletes will work on screening, cutting and playing without the basketball.

All aspects of shooting will be covered including footwork, mechanics and developing key habits to become a better shooter.  This training is for players that have travel, middle school, or high school playing experience. These are not clinics for beginners.  Skills covered during sessions include:

  • Improve your shooting technique
  • Develop practice habits that help you become a better shooter
  • Build sound shooting techniques
  • Master specific shots that great scorers need in their toolbox
  • Train effectively to see real improvement when you practice
  • Discover the keys to protect your confidence
  • Develop an understanding of what it takes to become a great shooter.

Individual or Small Group Instruction

Kyle Mendenhall has trained and coached players of all ages and skills ranging from beginners through the collegiate level.  He uses intense, dynamic drills, along with detailed teaching points, to improve player’s skills and fundamentals, increasing their ability to be successful at any level. Kyle wants to inspire players to become more dedicated and work hard on their own. He also desires to grow the player’s leadership while developing toughness, work ethic and competitiveness.

Volleyball Camp

Learn the game and improve your skills with concentrated practices for different age groups.  Campers will be formed into teams to practice and compete for individual and team points as they learn to fine tune their fundamentals of volleyball.  Each day, Biblical character qualities will be taught that connect both volleyball and life.  Prizes will be awarded at the end of camp.
